About Us

The business was founded by Gerry and Linda Tuffs who started free-range egg production at Great House Farm in 1985. In fact, they were the first sub-contract producers for Daylay Eggs which was subsequently bought by Deans Farms. In 1999, they acquired the Martin Pitt free-range egg business based in Marlborough, Wiltshire and expanded the sales of eggs throughout London and the M4 corridor.

Farmhouse Freedom Eggs is still based at Great House Farm and boasts a modern packing station with state of the art grading and packing machines. Our mayonnaise production has increased in volume and we have added a new modern production facility to handle this growth.

In 2000 the company launched its organic egg production under the Organic Food Federation accreditation – Great House Farm became an organic farm at this time and our egg sales steadily grew in volume.

The Team

The company is still run by Gerry Tuffs, our Managing Director, but we have added a dedicated management team to work with him.
Linda Tuffs runs mayonnaise production, Christine Bull is our sales office manager, David Stoneman is responsible for all our quality control operations, David Cooknell is our marketing manager and our production and packing operations are headed up by Tim Jones (production manager) and Julie Chaisty (production supervisor). We also have a committed team of staff supporting the management.

The Future

At the end of 2002 the company hit another milestone by bringing the Vestey Group into the company as a shareholder. Farmhouse Freedom Eggs will now be the egg supplier and organic specialist for the group. We are sure that with the help and support of this substantial group Farmhouse Freedom Eggs will continue to flourish and supply top quality eggs and mayonnaise to a wider customer base.
